The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) leadership convened its annual National Council meeting at GNAT Village-Abankro, Ejisu from September 26th to September 29th, 2023. The National Council, which serves as the Association's second-highest decision-making body, gathered to address various important issues. Here are some key outcomes:

The leadership extended an invitation to the Minister of Education to discuss concerns such as the delayed laptop distribution, an overdeduction of 44.55, promotions, the National Teaching Council (NTC), deprived area allowance, and Teachers' Bungalows.
Although the Minister couldn't attend in person, Deputy Minister of Education Hon. John Ntim Fordjour represented him. The Council presented these matters, and the Deputy Minister provided the following information:

A. The laptop distribution is currently underway but has experienced delays. The Minister assured that everyone who paid for a laptop will receive one.
B. The overdeduction of 44.55 will be reimbursed in October and November 2023, with the leadership already informed.
C. Regarding promotions, some successful candidates have already received their placements and payments, while the remaining promotions will be processed in October and November.
D. Professional Development Allowances will be disbursed.

The GNAT Institute for Research and Industrial Relations Studies Council Board was established and met the requirements set by GTEC.
Discussions were held about the delay in loan delivery, with management apologizing and pledging to address the issue.
The minimum contribution to the Mutual Fund will increase from 50.00 to 100.00, effective January 2024.

Souvenirs for GNAT members will now be provided annually, as opposed to every four years during the national conference.
