It has been weeks since issues concerning increase in cocoa popped up on the media.Some concerned cocoa Farmers in the Amenfi central voiced out that goods and services are galloping hence they are pleading with the government to consider these factors before an increase in this year's cocoa price.
Previously, a bag of cocoa was bought at Gh¢660.00 meaning a kilo goes for Gh¢10.00, which was always talked about that per global market price, Ghanaian farmers are not treated well, some farmers closer to Côte divoire mostly smuggle their cocoa to the ivorians in order to get a capital a little above Ghana's price,which was the most talked about news on the media some moments ago.
The Government of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo together with the minister for Agriculture, Ghana Cocoa Board, Producer price Review Committee and various cocoa buying companies in Ghana have finally come out with a new price of Gh¢800per bag, and Gh 12.5per kilo.The new price takes effects from October,7 2022.
Most farmers are unhappy with the current increase per the economic level, they were least expecting 1000 per bag.
