West African Examinations council has released some pre examination Procedures that attention must be paid to, below are the procedures; 

  Pre-Examination Procedures (1)

>>Development of Teaching syllabus by the Ghana Education Service and Examinations syllabus by WAEC

>>Training of Item Writers

>>Commissioning of Item Writers/knowledgeable persons/experts/professionals in the subject areas are commissioned to set questions).

Pre-Examination Procedures (2)

>>Trial testing of Items

• Moderation of Items by experts

>>Compilation of papers by Subject Officers

>>Type setting, proof reading and editing

>>Printing of question papers

>>Accreditation/Recognition of Schools

Pre-Examination Procedures(3)


>>Registration of candidates (This is done online) School candidates are registered by Directors of

Education (BECE)/ Heads of School (WASSCE).

- Private candidates register individually.

>>Centre Arrangements for conduct of examinations

>>Submission of Continuous Assessment Scores (school examinations only)

>>Sensitisation programme for schools/candidates
