We the delegates of the 2nd Annual National Assembly of the Coalition of Sandwich Students of UCC, hereby issue this communique and resolution as the true reflection of the position of the delegates for consideration and swift intervention by the government, Institute of Education - UCC, and other stakeholders.

On behalf of all the Sandwich Students under the Institute of Education - UCC, we wish to express our sincere gratitude to our various stakeholders in education, especially, the Institute of Education - UCC, Ministry of Education (MOE), Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Ghana Education Service and Teacher Unions for their continuous support towards the welfare of Sandwich Students within our fraternity and by extension, teacher education in the country.

The leadership of the Coalition has engaged several stakeholders on issues affecting Sandwich Students. Among the concerns raised during these engagements were;

a. Upgrading of Sandwich Students right after completion of their courses.

b. Engaging GES to ensure those reading secondary courses are transferred from the basic schools to senior high schools after completing their programs.

c. Engaging NTC and has been given the go ahead to prepare a content for NTC to vet. Sandwich Students and teachers by extension will be trained by the Coalition at a zero charge. Participants will be awarded CPD POINTS that will be considered by NTC in license renewal.

d. Engaging NSS to enroll sandwich students on their scheme so as to enable them

Leadership in consultation with the Institute has created a centralized accounts for the

Coalition. The account is intended to serve as the means through which the SRC dues of

Sandwich Students would be released to the various SRCS by Institute.

The various SRCs are therefore urged to create accounts through which their dues would be

paid to them by the Coalition.

Institute stated that, the current amount was charged due to their anticipation of we having more face to face in our second session. Institute again mentioned that if we are unable to meet up the estimated face to face period, part of the fees will be reimburse to students and we shall see keen to the execution of that mandate. However, the leadership is therefore urged to re-engage Institute of Education on the subject matter for a possible reduction in the fees.

The Coalition is marveled at the continuous delay in the commencement of the online tuition. The Chairman indicated that, after further engagement with Institute, the online tuition is expected to commence officially on Monday, March 20, 2023.

The delay in the online tuition has been said to be due to measures been put in place to ensure that, tutors are actively involved and monitored.

The online lectures for the Semester is expected to last for three weeks and another three weeks for the face-to-face sessions.

No handouts should be priced more than Forty Ghana Cedis (Ghe40.00). Students are directed to ignore and report such incidents to the Coalition for onward actions to be taken. Institute of Education with the Coalition shall take the necessary steps to address such instances.

The Coalition conducted elections to elect new leaders to man the affairs of the Coalition as the current ones are departing office. The following are the new executives elect;

a) Isaac Obour

General Secretary

b) Atagabe Anankpenga Blastus

Financial Secretary

c) Stephen Antwi Baako

The leadership congratulates the newly elected National Officers and urges them to serve the Sandwich Students well.

The National Assembly unanimously resolved that; the following measures be put in place to mitigate the challenges outlined above:

1. An introductory letter be given to all SRC Presidents to aid them in securing an account.

2. Students who are owing fees should endeavor to take steps to make payment as leadership of the Coalition keeps engaging Institute on a possible reduction in the new fees.

3. Leadership should always have a joint release with Institute after any official engagement, in order to enhance the information flow, through appropriate channels.

4. Coalition should work on ensuring that accommodation fees paid as part of the school fees, covers for mattresses.

5. Institute should ensure the online lectures on the agreed date (March 20, 2023) is effectively implemented.

The Coalition of Sandwich Students of UCC extends its immense heartfelt gratitude to all delegates, observers and ex-officials who made time to attend this year's National assembly.

We equally extend much gratitude to all stakeholders who have always responded to our call on them and are doing their best to keep the Coalition on its feet. We appreciate all media houses for their continuous support in diverse ways.
